A little culinary history: Decorative moulds belong to a tradition of turning jellies, blancmanges and mousses into sculptural table centrepieces. Copper examples survive from nineteenth-century kitchens; their shaped surfaces gave otherwise simple preparations an elaborate presentation. This is background to the mould-making tradition, rather than a claim of a specific date or maker for this piece.
Display ideas: Tuck it into a collection of larger copper moulds, hang it beside a kitchen shelf, or pair it with blue-and-white crockery and antique linen.
Care: Dust gently with a soft cloth and avoid harsh abrasives or the dishwasher.
