"What is piety? It is to apply oneself to prayer (St. Jerome) when you pray, you speak to God; when you read, it is God who speaks to you. (St. Augustus) January, 1st, 1873"
A Paroissien Romain is a type of Catholic prayer book, specifically used for the Roman Rite, that contains the prayers and liturgies for daily and Sunday Mass, as well as other devotional practices for parishioners (paroissiens) to follow. It typically includes the text of the Mass, prayers for different occasions, and sometimes psalms, hymns, and reflections. These books were especially popular in France in the 19th and early 20th centuries and are often ornately designed, with detailed engravings, gilded edges, and sometimes leather bindings. This one is leather and in lovely conditionn considering it's age. It features the primary festivals of the year in Latin and in French and the way of the Cross.
This book is over 150 years old and shows the normal wear and staining of a leather bound book of its age, all things considered, it is in excellent condition.
