About the artist:

A noted and accomplished artist Georges Planes was a student of Fernand Cormon. He exhibited at the Salon des Artistes Français of which he was a member from 1923. He is known for his alpine and pastoral landscapes, capturing the quiet beauty of rural life with a focus on light, movement, and atmosphere. 

Well-known in his time, today, his work has been exhibited at auction 103 times.
